Volunteer Service Award
Congratulations to Leroy Bolt, United Way’s 2016 Volunteer Service Award Recipient!
In 1989, the United Way of Abilene Board of Directors approved the establishment of a Volunteer Service Award. The purpose of the award is to honor one outstanding volunteer for “a lifetime of community service”. A committee is appointed each year that includes previous honorees. They are charged with the task of carefully selecting a deserving individual for that year’s award. The criteria is as follows:
- A commitment to service to others
- Determination and persistence in fulfilling volunteer obligations
- Loyalty and integrity
- Active involvement in community activities in addition to United Way
- Dedication to helping people in Abilene
