Leroy Bolt Volunteer Service Award

In 1989, the United Way of Abilene Board of Directors approved the establishment of a Volunteer Service Award. The purpose of the award is to honor one outstanding volunteer for “a lifetime of community service”. A committee is appointed each year that includes previous honorees. They are charged with the task of carefully selecting a deserving individual for that year’s award. The criteria is as follows:

A commitment to service to others
Determination and persistence in fulfilling volunteer obligations
Loyalty and integrity
Active involvement in community activities in addition to United Way
Dedication to helping people in Abilene
